Day 17. Vegetables
CCA Katipunan
September 22, 2011. Thursday
So this is Day 2 of our Katipunan temporary migration, and we covered vegetables. Unfortunately we did not get much lecture from chef, we were only given our recipes and we just went ahead and cooked them.
I got assigned with making Braised Red Cabbage.
So here, the mise-en-place for the veggies
I feel really embarrassed about the quality of the pictures, obviously it did not do my red cabbage any justice. Well, come to think of it, it seems i overcooked it. The cabbage is this much close to losing its violet color. I looked it up on the net and according to Jamie Oliver, it's supposed to look like this:
Not the same right? Sucks. Trust me, it's just the camera!
Now this Glazed Root Vegetables, Carrots and Jicama tourneed rather perfectly by my schoolmate Janine and sauteed in butter with sugar. By far this is the best tournee our batch has made.
Creamed Spinach
Ratatouille
After the vegetables, again, we went back to the place we went to yesterday for breakfast, and today we went there to have lunch.
Cream of Spinach Bacon Soup
Sides of Arugula salad in Lemon dressing
&
Fillet of Sole Mauniere with Roasted baby potatoes
Pork Cutlers with sweet mash potato, foie gras and glace de viande
Apple and blueberry fritters
Ugh! Ive done nothing but eat eat eat for the past few months and i seemed to gaining serious weight. But i'm happy and that's fine right? Good times!
Cheers! Until the next! :)
