Baked Pasta with quails' eggs and Mocha Mudpie #4

Now, I’ve no one to blame but my sleeping problem for the delay in posts.

For the past 2 weeks or so, (since my last post) I’ve been having trouble NOT sleeping. Yes, that's right. I seem to be asleep ALL THE TIME. On my way to work (commute), during lunch break at work, during work, upon coming home, before eating, after eating, on a darn Friday night, on an even darn Saturday night and all Sunday- day!

It's a downhill battle but thanks to a friend of mine, who suggested that perhaps i lack physical activity, which caused me to feel drowsy most of the time. So, a while ago, i tried my best not to sleep during lunch break, and upon coming home, put on my sporting gear and tae-boed with Billy Blanks. Did 15mins strenuous cardio (work in progress! So no comments please.) which is not bad after a year of not workin out. Sweatfest!

POWER! ENERGY! ENERGY! POWERRRRR!!

Anywho, got this recipe from a really inexpensive cookbook and surprised myself with the results. This recipe required paglia e fieno (green-ish pasta) but decided to add angel hair along with it, to make it more fun? i think. Cook separately until al dente. Set aside, let cool.

For the cheese sauce, or béchamel as its commonly called - mix in butter, beef stock, flour, cream and S&P. Until thick and creamy. Set aside as shown (well, hello there neighbor salmon!)

Chop veggies beforehand, used zucchini, carrots, string beans and button mushroom which did wonders to the flavor! The zucchini and mushroom being squishy while the carrots and string beans crunchy. It’s like a texture explosion for the palate! Melt butter in a large frying pan, add veggies and a bit of water and simmer over low heat until veggies are tender.

Mix in cooked pasta and cheese / béchamel sauce. Ta-da!

For the mocha mudpie, okay honestly, I felt happy when I realized that this dessert is really very simple. Aiza, my officemate, even laughed when I said im excited to make one. Well, honestly, it does require rather minimal ingredients; mocha ice cream, oreo cookies, butter, chocolate coated biscuits (knick knacks for this batch) and melted chocolate (used ricoa flat tops)

Well, put 2 and 2 together; crush oreo cookies and combine with butter, layer with softened mocha ice cream, randomly scatter choco-coated biscuits, place in freezer overnight.

Next day, melt semi-sweet chocolate over simmering hot water, place inside piping bag, Line top with chocolate. Yummy! Picture looks crappy coz there weren’t any left for me to take; we ate em all at once. =)
