Soup and Salmon #3!

I'm tired of being TIRED of cooking after work. With my previous entries, i start to cook around 10PM, after work and overtime, and finish around 1AM, which is too much for a normal person after working for almost 13hours the whole day. So! For this particular entry, I decided to file a halfday off from work just to get enough time to prepare and rest after.

I love it that I’m learning a lot even though I’m just teaching myself how to cook. Like for this recipe, i met Paprika. Now, I've heard of this particular spice several times before but i've never given much thought how it's used.

At first, i expected the soup to be thick and creamy (as was shown in the picture of the recipe book) but when i added parika and milk (too much of it, i guess) it started to taste very un-chowdery already, like the Singaporean Laksa from Secret Recipes. The paprika gave it quite a flavor; the first taste is creamy, then a certain kick follows down the throat.

Ingredients:
Shrimp, SquidRings, Cream Dory Fish, Crabsticks. Salt and pepper * celery stalks, chopped *
paprika * milk and cream, directly proportioned * onions * butter *red and green bellpepper*
chopped parsley. (Bring to boil all ingredients. Add shrimp, squid, fish, crabsticks, butter and parsley after.)

Frying things has always been a difficulty for me, that's probably the reason why i lean towards pastry arts; not much frying going on here. For this recipe, i decided to try the frying part of cooking. Seemed pretty much harmless since all i have to do is mix the batter (mashed potatoes, milk, salt pepper, egg spring onions, flour) and fry them like pancakes, but again, i ended up with:

The batter won’t cook even if I set the range on max fire/heat! Everytime I flip it over, the batter just throws itself all over the pan. Repeated the whole process for about 3 times, but came up with the same results. So i decided to just pour the entire batter in on the pan and just cooked it till it went medium brown.

Serve topped with smoked salmon slices and spoonful of cream with parsley and spices. Let's eat!
