Tagaytay
So, it's a long, gloomy, rainy holiday weekend and ze familia decided to head out to Tagaytay for a quick RnR and to breath in cold weather. After hearing mass at Our Lady of Lourdes, we had dinner at the famous Filipino restaurant by Happy Ongpauco, Pamana.
Again, i know i've mentioned it several times in this blog and i'll say it again: I'm a total sucker for old things, old places, or anything heavy with memory and aged with time. So this concept is really a winner for me. I have read about Pamana on a lot of occasions, blog, papers, magazines.. and finally, we get to eat!
Parking wasn't a problem since there's ample space in front of the restaurant for about 10 cars so that's a plus especially if one goes to Tagaytay on a holiday weekend, you're sure to have parking problems. We were welcomed by staffs, immediately directing us to our table upstairs. I like it that the restaurant has already met my expectations ambiance wise.
Christmas plates, cookie jars, etc, available for sale
home-made Spanish sardines, crab fat, bottled preserves for sale also

like literally memory lane.

their menu
Most of foodies whom blogs i've read ordered the 3 way adobo but since mom cooks so much adobo at home, we decided to try other favorites cooked Pamana style.
Bicol Express - not so good. Since there's not much ( or none at all!) gata or coconut milk as the usual way it's cooked. And! there's about 5 pcs of green sili which totally defeats the essence of it supposedly being spicy.
Adobo Rice. - My sister and myself liked it that the garlic rice is sticky and salty but we got disappointed that there's only about a spoonful of adobo on top and it's not justifiable to call it adobo rice.
Fried tawilis - not a fan of eating whole fish like this, so i wasn't able to try it but according to mom and sis it's great.
Bulalo Soup.
We also ordered grilled salmon belly served with 3 sauces - terriyaki, vinegar and soysauce which i failed to take a picture of since it got to our table halfway through the meal. The salmon belly i liked, too bad there are no pictures to show =(
Dad and Mom goofing around while waiting for our orders.
Overall, i have to say that the best thing about Pamana is the concept and the ambience- cozy and homey. The food they offer, simple and ordinary. However, i have to say i'll definitely come back to try out other dishes.
